gmax doesn't come with a .dds plugin like 3DS Max does. I'm not sure where u can get the plugin for it but I think the plugin for 3DS Max would work in gmax (?)
That's also probably why it doesn't have a skin applied when you open it in gmax, without the plugin gmax can't read .dds files.

You can export from max6 to GMAX , while keeping all your parametric data intact...

I got 3dsMax 6 and entered the autorization code, it accepted it, and 3ds worked but after restarting my computer it came up with an error message about my registration and authorizaton code. Have any idea about this.

great tool thanks a lot Flyby but I have one last question....when I import the model the skin is not applied on it but I can see it on Material Navigator. Do I have to apply it again or I can export it like that?

Thanks
