Default Weapon selection and ranges

ím trying to make a tank with two weapons. Both weapons should fire at anything i target. The weapon with the longest range is in a turret, the other is fixed in the hull. When i target a unit the gun in the turret wont fire until the tank closes within range of the weapon in the hull and until the tank turns in the direction of the target(ie loosing both the longer range of the gun in the turret and the fact that a turret should turn to target)!! can anyone tell me what im doing wrong.... if you need the code plz let me know.

I'd do it the other way around, have the long-range one fixed and the shorter-ranged one on the turret.

Well im making a mod thats based upon a board game, so that realy isnt up to me
