Default Blitz guys... a question about your ini structure

This is from back in september... But I was curious as to how that is actually set up. Like, how did you set it up so generals looks for the unit information in all of the other .inis? Did you reference them in the factionunit/building .inis or what?

It would be great to know how to do this because I hate editing the actual files... it ends up getting big and messy. Thanks thanks.

With the object inis, it doesnt matter what the ini file is called, as long as it is in the object folder, then generals will read it and load the objects contained.

You cant do this that I have found with weapon, locomotor etc..

Same is true for the MappedImages folder. No specific INI filenames are looked for, they all get read, but the HandCreated file takes priority.

I think this is a major pain for TibEd... but well, it's just not possible to use any other files than the predefined there. Moving between them is also impossible.
I can see this is an useful game feature, compared to the RA2/YR mess, but I wish they had applied a bit more structure.

Yeah, but have two inis with the same thing in it and some really messed up stuff can happen in your game :P

SImply rename INI.blitz (or whatever) to INI.big and open it. There you can see the Blitz 2 INI file structure.

Yea as has been stated, the game reads any ini file that is in the object folder...so the amount really doesn't matter. v026 had 111 ini files in there (1 ini for almost every unit).

I believe that the game also reads any ini's that are inside any folders in the object folder...

example: if i wanted to I could split up the inis so its like this

gen/data/ini/object/allied units/<allied ini's> and so on

it really helps with organization and such
