Default partial transparency possible?

Im almost certain the answer is NO, but is the engine capable of rendering partial transparency? As in something that is see-through but visible like a ghost or something?

alpha channels are your friend

from what I know you need to set it on the model to accept alpha...and then edit the alpha channel in the dds

beware, they can be a major lag causer though...(although i havn't seen a big difference with tons of blood puddles around yet...)

my mod isnt going to be multiplayer, so im not worried about lag....

although i thought alpha channels were only for defining total transparency and total opac...ness. are you saying that if i do a shade of gray, it will render as semi-transparent?
