Is this possible?
Somewhere on the bottom bar for the infantry we’d have 3 buttons, ATTACK, DEFEND, and AMBUSH.
ATTACK: Offensive is stronger, and they move faster, while their strength is weaker. When you click for them to move they run at the area. When you click to attack a target they will run while shooting where the target is at (while their shots will not harm or even hit them), once in range of shooting the target they will either kneel, stand, or go prone (anims would be random) and will not stop shooting untill the traget is destroyed.
DEFEND: Offensive is weaker, and they move slower, but their strength is stronger. When you click at an area for them to move they will march/walk cautiosly there, pausing every so often to kneel and look around with their rifles pointing at where their looking. When you click on a target they will run hunched over while pausing every so often to squeeze off a few rounds at the targets area. When their in within range to shoot the target, they will kneel or go prone and will shoot the target untill it is destroyed.
When infantry is on defend, they have an “entrench” button that can be activated if they stand motionless, and once clicked, depending what kind of territory their in, they will be leaning or stay crouched behind certain objects. If there in a jungly, certain soldiers will be leaning on trees or crouch behind tree roots or will be prone behind a log, etc, if they were in urban terrain the anim would be them hiding behind stacked barrels or wooden crates, etc.
AMBUSH: Quite simply, infantry will be invisible, untill they either move/shoot, or a player comes too close.
These 3 would be only be available for infantry.
This is what a team member thought of, i think 3/4 of it is not possible to make without the C&C generals engine code, one part is just pointless and stupid. The searching for cover is IMO not possible, he's thinking that generals is some other game, maybe even an FPS, that can do that. The attacking with shooting while running, sounds just stupid, who would wanna do that?
