Yeah its definately polygon related.I had the problem with my F18, I deleted the underside polygons on the area that was causing a problem. In my case it was a horizontal tail wing.I just deleted the underside polys and voila no more problem.

Someone tried to explain to me what was causing the problem, but I didnt understand what they were saying and I dont think english was their primary language.Knowing what causes it would be very helpful...

If your plane never shows the underside of its wings or the bottom of the fuselage, then you may safely remove the polys. Here is the top and bottom views.

for all my aircraft models so far, I use single sided wings and just include the option in W3D tools for 2sided mode,
for that F-16 it must be coming from the fuselodge then. I gues just test and test and test removing different polys i guess.
KeyOP that F-18 is a heck of a lot better than the one used in Axis of Power and Reborn Mods. They ought to switch to yours model. Theirs looks like a cross between an 18 and a 15. lol

The shadow problem is due to some polygons not being "welded" together. I had the problem, and someone helped me out, but I never did test it. If I can remember correctly, you have to select the polys where the shadow "hole" is, and find a "Weld" option. I can't remember whether it's on the taskbar or if you right-click to get to it though. :| Started on that Blackhawk yet, key0p? *drools*

PCteen1, that is a good possibility, stuff like that happen quite often without noticing it while you ad edit meshes and other modifiers.
Thanks for reminding me, im gonna double check that.
I got nothing going on this weekend either so i gues im gonna go over all my buggy models.

PCteen, it was me who told you that

I had a nasty stringy shadow problem on the tail of my now famous Apache. The way I managed to fix it was welding all the vertecies on the tail. Problem solved.

The reason for this was in UVW mapping. I dont get the problem anymore cos I do it all in 3DS Max 5, but my Apache I made the map using Chilliskinner in gmax. This basically chops up the model and puts it back together again - without welding any joints or vertecies. That's what caused all my stringy shadow problems on the Apache.

This i guess the problem can be fixed on my F-16.
So your the one who made that APACHE for download, as BIG file addon Killakanze?
cause if you are i downloaded it, and read your readme file, said you had a problem with the skin, whn i first used it i noticed that the cockpit canopy wasnt colored correctly and you said in the readme you would appreciate it if someone could fix it. so i fixed it, took a while but i did it. ill try to post a pick later to show it, see if it was yours i downloaded.

yep, sounds like mine.
I fixed it too though, before giving it to some mods like Real War and Nova WW3. I released that Apache a very long time ago.

I slapped a quick skin on the Tu160 to test it in-game, and i like the way it looks(the screen cap doesnt really show it off, being mostly white).WHen Ive finished it Ill update the download links.I also test skinned the second variant of the tiger, so I should have them available pretty soon.
