Default Skinning and animation?

I just finished making a nuke silo in Gmax and now I'm ready to do some animation and skinning. Should I skin first or do the animation first? Or does it matter?

Software-wise it doesnt matter. Its just personall preferance. You may prefer the skin on to get a better idea of how it looks, but you dont have to.

Thanks Key0p, I think I will do the animation first. I think the skinning will be the most difficult for me because I'm not real savy with art.

I would advise against doing the animation first. if you use GMax and ChilliSkinner, then you have to attact all the polys together, which kills the animation. This has happened to me before and I don't know of a way around it... unless someone else does?

If your objects need to be separate for animation purposes, then they will need to be separate when you export them.Skin them as individual objects....

I dont use chilli skinner I just use Gmax UnwrapUV.

Cloning the object doesn't retain the animation?
