Something I've always wondered...
What causes your units to auto-fire on an enemy unit? They automatically attack enemy units and defences, but not buildings. So what decides whether the enemy should auto-fire at an object? (and no I don't mean AutoAcquireEnemiesWhenIdle).

there is an option in the game menus called retalliation, to cause units to return fire automatically even when not set on patrol/guard. for infantry all units in view will retaliate even when one is fired upon, comanches only the one will turn around and return fire.
I hate that.
but i know that if you set patrol/guard to infantry they will attack everything, but if you send them to a spot near enemy building they only attack nearby enemy units and not the building, I dont know why for sure my guess is that its that way buy default cause maybe you want to take the building over, so reqiure a cammand to destroy building, but you dont want the infantry to be stupid and just stand there while being fired upon.

Yes but why does it attack units but not buildings? What causes that?

They will auto attack a structure if it has KindOf = FS_BASE_DEFENSE.

Could it also have something to do with it having a weapon maybe? That they only attack something that can shoot back? Maybe that's why they gave the sneak attack tunnel a dummy weapon with a tiny damage, so your own units will auto-attack it when it appears...

Maybe, not sure, but they don't attack a Tech Artillary when it has been captured by an enemy.

That was only given a weapon so that it could obey a 'guard' command for scripting purposes.

Ok, so if you want to prevent your units from attacking a building, you should not give it FS_BASE_DEFENSE. So will that work on an anti-air only defence? I don't want my ground units to auto-attack it, but it should still act as a defence.
