The taliban captured a bunch of government owned Mig-21s and Su-22s when they took over.

They probably didn't have the manpower or tech to maintain them or operate them. Even a large percentage of Iraqs air force was found rusted and destroyed.

Im pretty sure I remember they used them, but not in the war with the US.They did not have air superiority.Google will know.Remember though that the taliban was founded+financed by the Pakistani Secret Service in corroboration with the CIA.
