Executable
How can you make your own executable? Is it c++, or is it the generals exe, with a -modname thingy?

Your own executable?
Executables are generated by the compiler, after linking. To make your own executables, you must write some program in some language.
I don't exactly get what you are trying to do, though..
But generals has been programmed in (as most other big programs) c++, yes.

The Generals source code is not available legally. So you can't do this with any compiler. If you obtained said source code, the world is your oyster. It's just like compiling any other source code. Although the source compiles to multiple files, not to the executable. The large part of Generals' engine I believe is game.dat

I think he doesn't know what an executable is and hes trying to say how to make a shortcut to launch your mod. Place your mods .big in My Documents\Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour Data if your using Zero Hour or My Documents\Command and Conquer Generals Data if your using regular Generals. Then add -mod MyMod.big to your Generals shortcut by editing the target. Place it after the .exe and after the quotes if they are there.

for a while there was a NOCD .exe for generals, does anyone know of one for ZH, I hate having to reenter the game CD when switching from game to game plus some games launch faster with NOCD .exe's
If the forum has rules against this subject then im sorry and please ignore.
