Default Helicoptor rotor blade transparency help please - SOLVED

After a fair bit of stuffing around I managed to make my helicopters rotor blades transparent and appearing very similar in game to the comanches. The only problem is, now the blades do not cast a shadow, which looks really bad.

I cant figure out the correct combination of material settings to apply to the rotor blades to make them the correct transparency AND cast a shadow.

Im using Alpha Blend, but the blades dont cast shadows in game.Im not using any kind of modified texture, just the default comanche blades.

I and a lot of other people have the same problem. Alpha blend causes the geometry the texture is applied to not cast a shadow. Never found a fix, but its obviously possible as the EA models show.

I just thought, maybe I can somehow apply dual texture to it, like you do with reflective surfaces(well, thats what I understand you do, Ive never tried).

Ok this sux, EVERY shader other than Opaque removes the geometries ability to cast shadows it seems.I wanted to add an invisible set of blades that cast shadow.

Ahahahah the solution is very very simple.

When you change to Alpha Blend, it unticks the box "Write ZBuffer".Tick the box, which will change the blend mode to "Custom", and youre done!

*edit ok now Ive made it NOT work again omfg what did I do

*edit2 Ok its not the Zbuffer its checking the "Shadw" box in the geometry options in W3D Tools. Before I thought when I checked that it did nothing...oh well, alls good now.
