OK, I just got on, I'll try to answer some of your questions.

Sure. Can the same approach be used for buying units at an airstrip and getting them paradropped in, like TD and Renegade?
|
Yup!

Easily done in .scb, as the hard coded AI makes use of them if they are present..
|
Wrong! The way I used to get this to work & look nice required me to change the unit that is
actually built from the Command Center. During my first ingame test, the AI was still trying to built the actual dozer, and couldn't find the butten for it on the taskbar, therefore they just sat there. Didn't take long to change though, I just had to edit one team.

so is that the new command center?
|
Uh.... no? :scared: lol, I've always been very carefull about releasing screenshots, but this time I slipped up! Yup, that's the almost-finished U.S. Command Center.

Looks good, nice concept too. But what happens if the enemy shoots the plane down?
|
Then you're screwed.

Hey, it's new strategy! And it is EDGE_NEAR_SOURCE, so it's harder to shoot the plane down.

would it be possible to do that except with a train arriving from offmap, stopping, a unit driving off the train and then the train setting off again?
|
No idea, but I doubt it. :/
A little tidbit for ya, Pestilence is currently working on a C-5 Galaxy for us, which will paradrop your Dozers and also drop the MOAB! (in real life, the MOAB is so heavy and large that only the C-5 can carry it)
Look for screenshots in the next few days.
Oh, and about the tuturial, I'll try to take a half-hour or so and write it up, along with some example code. An interesting fact, I came up with the solution (I've been trying to do this for a few weeks for... "another part" of AAOW) around 2am two days ago, and got up to scribble it on a piece if paper in the dark.
OK, one last thing, a bit of a poll:
Should the Dozer's transport be invinceable?
