Zelda Mini-mod
i got all hyped up about the new zelda game shown at e3 so i started to play a link to the past and i got the idea of making a really small mod that has like 15-20 new units maybe even less , around 8 buildings and it would be i guess a role playing strategy game, it would have one really big map, say 800x800 (160000 tiles) and on it their are 4 bases, your castle/base and ganons 3 castles the point would be to overcome all three castles while you keep your seven sages alive after you do all of that you take all three fragments of the master sword into the temple of time where it is reforged march to death moutain and kill ganon

Why not lower the unit count even more? Have small squads of units used by the players numbering about 4-6 (with 3 different types...knight, mage, archer or whatever). You could then let those units have different upgrade path's...and set a bunch of upgrades up on the units so when trigged by a rank upgrade (also increase that amount to 50 or 100)...the units upgrade. Make some boss units, which give off exp points.
Then you have yourself a nice rpg-ish game. Of course, you could increase the polies spent per unit majorly...since there are less in the game. Also, change the camera angle to add to the atmosphere.

i started to mess around with the .tga files in world builder and i am getting close to making almost the same kind of texture as it was in the orignal link to the past, just plain ol green grass and yellowish-brown sand , no major detail as i would like this to have a feeling close to the original zelda
smurfbizkit what you said about the units, i guess you could say heroes, those would be the seven sages, i guess what you said about the upgrades would be a good idea, have each of them start of as normal units, once they become a vetran they can choose one of 5 upgrades, heoic one of the 4 remaining and when they are elite just 1 of the three remaining
for the unit types, ( i should have been more specific ) have the evil power (ganon) have 5 unit types, stalfos, wizrobes, lizalfos, hinox and moblins the good guys have 4 unit types plus the heroes, archer, knights, mounted knights and chain and ball
i guess for buildings we could have a castle with four upgrades, each new building is an upgrade, stables archery barrcaks and mill, the soucre of income would be to harvest lumber i guess we should also try to make a way to put a limit on the number of unit you could make, would that be a bad idea, have no more than 50 units at a time
i guess we should also make two campaigns, ganon and the house of hyrule
and as for bosses we could have 7, ganon, the three wandering bosses and the three in the dungeons
well i am really getting serious about this so would anyone want to help, a contribution of even one model would be 5% of all the models hehehe

The Story
A Place only known as hyrule was created eons ago by three goddesses, Din the goddess of power dyed the mountains red with fire and created land, Nayru the goddess of wisdom created science and wizardry and brought order to nature, Farore the goddess of courage , through justice and vigor created life. before the three goddesses left the realm of hyrule they left only one artifact to let the people know of their great power the Triforce
Eons passed and as fact became legend and legend myth the whereabouts of the triforce became legend, nothing more than a fairy tale people searched despeately for it and never located its whereabouts. Some saythat it lay under the desert, others decree that is is in the cementary that shadows death mountain, no one ever found it.
One day by total accident a gang of thieves skilled in the arts of black magic stumbled upon it, the leader ganon fiercely attacked all of his brethren in an attempt to claim it as his own, he eventually reached the amulet that was left as a token by the goddesses. Many greedy men and evil people soon searched out Ganon together they formed a formidable army and challenged the Hylian Royal House, through a series of short skirmishes neither side sought much advances, but slowly Ganons corrupt army started to take over. all the Hylian Royal House still owns is the mighty castle of Hyrule....
About
This mod is a dedication to the best video game ever, The Legend of Zelda : A Link to the Past, in essence it is a Role Playing Real Time Strategy (rpgrts) the only one ever made and the only on ein production. it will mod Command and Conquer : Zero Hour. the style of gameplay is simple, you collect wood for credits which you use to build more buildings and units. each building is built inside a castle in a castle you can have archers garrison in side of it. the object of the game is to destroy all three castles and the boss of the castle and collect the essence on evil. there are also three wandering bosses. after you collect all three essences you will need to go to the temple of time and forge the sword of evils bane then you will need to go to ganons fortress and raze it. you will then need to kill ganon with one of your sages and you will have sealed him off into the dark world hence the title The Imprisoning War

All the sages in LttP were just girls and Zelda :P
And you need a hell of a lot of animation for the mod :-/
Which monsters would you want to use anyways?

i dont think many animations would be required as there arent many new units and buildings

so based on youre opinions should this mini-mod be a go ? and i would only start to work on the map after i have 1/2 the models done as this map is going to be huge and will easily take a week to do, and i have other mods to work on

It's very difficult to put a melee fighting system into the generals world and have it look good. I tried to do this when I was researching some things before I started Paradise Lost. (PL was originally going to be almost all melee fighting) It is a lot of animating even if there aren't that many units present. It could be very cool, so I say give it a shot, if it doesn't work out then oh well.

Each model would at least take a week to animate :-/
Pray you find an animator, otherwise the project would go nowhere
