Default HORRIBLE RenX problem [UPDATED]

OK, thanks for the help so far guys. Here's more detailed info:

I was working on this model:

I made it from scratch in a 6-hour long run, never testing it. I finally had it modeled, skinned (WIP), rigged, and ready to go in the game. I go to export it, and as it gets to TREADS02 (the left treads) the exporter stops. I wait, still nothing. I click on RenX, and it says that RenX has had an error, and must close, "Do you want to try and save a copy of the current scene?". I did, and booted again. I tried to export it over & over, same thing. I then deleted the offending tread. It then crashed on the muzzle FX. No matter what I do, it stops somewhere each time.

So, last night, after I got back from dinner, I tried again. RenX wouldn't boot. I think it was a "corruputed" error.

This morning, I installed a Windows update. Now, RenX will boot, but I'm still getting the export error! This didn't happen on another model I tried, either... HELP! :dead:

I get theat problem off and on, i just reinstall, and it goes away for a few weeks. dont kno wat brings it back.

DL any windows updates lately? One of the updates sometimes classifies gmax or its files as corrupted programs for some reason. I think discreet has made a patch.

well for me its not the corruption thats a problem, you dont see that in the w3d file thats for the gmax file. my problem is that RenX after the export window closes it does nothing, the script window that would normally popup and scroll the code it creates just never happens till you tried to close RenX then all the sudden a minute later it would happen then close the whole program, annoying

Probably a stupid question, but have you got any duplicated names in your object? That will cause it to mess up.

any objects in the scene with duplicate names will cause problems when exported. it screws the hierarchy of the scene when generals reads teh .w3d

what windows?If XP, send a picture of your whole screen when RenX stops exporting!

Pestilence, I need to talk to you real quick. I'm in too much of a hurry to sign into my email (what else is new! :lol: ). Could I send you the gmax file, and you try to export it? Or I could upload it to your FTP server...


Anyway, I'll try reinstalling gmax and RenX tommorow.

i would suggest you use RenX Standalone but the current version is too buggy and v2.0 aint close to release...
