"real" unit build idea
the thought occured to me, that most of the structures in the game are a tad..... peminent looking. true "base" structures and not over night set up deals. but what i'm wondering is, would it be possible to create this situation. instead of a warfactory, one has a small structure, a radio post even, that "builds" the units, which are then built inside a cargo plane which comes by at intervals. sort of... build all you want, reinforcements dont get here for 2 minites.
side question: is it just me, or does no one mod with "infantry combat" in mind?

There is a mod in the development process that uses something very similar to this concept.
Hint : Check Derelict Studios

So your saying it would be a REINFORCMENT MOD? That sound cool, but the only thing that would be messed up is that the first side who gains antiair capabilities wins.
Would this be for Generals?

good point. i'll try to make the infantry in my mod a little more necessary.
most of the first missions in the mod will be infantry based anyway

well, about the anti air, it dosent need to be a plane exactly. plane, train, large multiwheel or hover convoy monstrosity, whatever. just so that the units are delivered, rather than quickly assembled in the feild in what i can only assume is a nano construction facility. (the gla... we have nanoassemblers, but we favor the moltov cocktail)
as for troops, i've always prefered "look out now, i got a tank on the way" not "look out, i've got 40 tanks on the way" and "buildings, not just something you have to drive around"

The structure build a invisible unit with a short life time. and then the unit has OCLUpdate to bring you a deliverer.

Infantry look like crap in generals, and you can't do much to change that unless you want to cut down on the amount of infantry used ingame. I suppose that is answer. Another one is that most people don't make completely new infantry models, but edit up the Generals ones a bit.

I concur with smurfbizkit on the infantry subject. No one truely makes new ones.
For the vehicle shipment look at the tank drop code and modify it to fit your needs.
