Default Simple Skinning Problem

I am having some problems getting new skins to show up in my mod.

Lets just say for grins that I want to make a chineese tank (or whatever unit) all neon pink.

1. I unpack cvtank.dds into my
C:\Program Files\EA Games\Command & Conquer Generals Zero Hour\Art\Textures
directory...

2. I use photoshop and make the entire freaking file pink.
3. Save with the nvidia plugin, using the proper permeters.

The problem is I load up generals, and no pink tank......

What's goin on?

What color is the tank in game? Try loading the tank up in renx then apply the texture

the tank appers exactly the same, as if I had done nothing at all.

Same thing happens if I apply a texture from renx.

I also tried applying a texture and saving the model itself out to a different name (like cvtank2.WMD) , then pointing the respective ini file to use the new model's name.....

I just got an invisiable tank...

I swear its acting like the /Art/Textures directory is just not there.....

I appericate the reply as im really suck btw....

is the texture file your useing located in the Art/Textures folder when you apply the new skin to the model in RenX?
the image file must be located there when you apply it, cos the game will not allow the model file to look outside the Art/Textures folder when used in game. when you apply a skin to a model in gmax, RenX or 3ds max the model file will remember the location of where the skin file is, so it must be located in the Art/Textures folder already before you apply it. if this isnt the problem then you may have found a new problem.

What happens if you aplly another texture altogether? Are you doing this while the game is still running? (ie- alt+tab) cos if you are any changes wont take effect untill the next time you start up Generals.

Perhaps it's not. You did put it in the right folder right? (the INSTALL folder, not the 'my docs' folder. Also if you have both Gen and ZH installed etc...)
