Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Well... yes it is actually...
Wooo! my first post in quite some time I think, well, down to business...
I've made a buildable A-10 (Hear's crowd go "woop-de-doo!") but the difference is i've given it an actual weapon selection, like the ranger can do with his assault rifle & flashbangs.
My A-10 can switch anytime between using the Avenger Cannon, and a payload of five high-yield bombs.
My problem comes when it flies in to do a bombing run, (with the bomb weapon selected obviously) it's supposed to drop them carpet-bomb style, yet instead it just flies in a very small circle dropping the bombs very slowly, it also continues to circle once the bombs have all been dropped.
I used the 'buildable carpet bomber' tutorial by 'The Hunter' to get it to work, but it messes up like this, does anyone have any ideas as to how to fix it?
Thanks for your time everyone.

Give it a minimum fire range, that MIGHT work, I got my new aurora to carpet bomb perfectly without superweapon OCLs, I'll check it later.

Thats the tutorial he used. Alright, I think I remember how I got my aurora bomber to carpet bomb. What I did was I copied the aurora bomb code and gave it no locomotor so it will drop and won't home in on the target, I think I gave it a weapon range and minimum range.

The hunter's code is practically the Aurora's weapon with minor tweaks, and yes i've tried giving the bomb no locomotor, but it still detonates 3 out of the 5 bombs in mid-air.
I don't suppose you could post your carpet bomber code for me Vengeance? PM it if you want it kept classified or something

Lol, np Grunt, nice to know you're trying to help anyways.
I have loads of time to work on this problem, so naturally i'm gonna take a crack at it, so i'll keep y'all posted on it, but it would help to see how others got the carpet bombing working properly.
I could always send this out as a mini-mod :P (I was gonna do that with the personal mod i made for RA2, it had loads of nice super-type units for each side with loads of unique weapons & such, i called it VietNow!)
But then if i made it into a mod it would need to look a little more professional :S , ah well

Sadly when the aurora is directly above the target, the bombs blow in mid air. But I think its ignorable because 6 of the 8 bombs released make it. I'll try getting the code, I stored all my modifications in big. files and somehow the computer doesn't reconizes them anymore.

have you tried a hightdie in the weaponobject? (if you need a reference to work from, the chinamine dropper uses it.)

That problem only occured when the bomb had no locomotor, and the A-10 still just circled around dropping them slowly, instead of making one swift, straight pass.
Vengeance, do you have FinalBig? it's what I (and probably most people) use to view the contents of .BIG files
it's easy as hell to use. i think there's a download for it on GenDev, at Origin studios
