Textures in Max 6
Just a quick question, how can you get more than 24 textures in a scene? There are only 24 spheres, and I can't figure out how to add more? Thanks!
*feels like a n00b*

just select a slot and hit the X under the ME slots.
Make sure you do not delete the material from scen, only from ME when asked for..

All that does for me is toggle how many of the 24 are on my screen at one time...
IE, I press X, now it's 3x2, again, 5x3, and again, 6x4. Then, it goes back to 3x2...?
EDIT: Also, where is the setting that lets you see appled textures in the Perspective window like in gmax? All I get are grey objects (they look fine when rendered of course)

Tuts? What tuts? I'm completely self-taught. Although, now that you mention it, know any good ones? lol
PS: Thanks, that worked. Can anyone help with the 24 texture limit?

Yes, the 600+MB of tutes that ship with 3d studio max 6, or if you have the trial version, you can download them all from discreet(after registering)
As for your texture limit problem, I guess seeing as you dont have the tutes you also dont have the max6 user reference files installed?

My 56k modem cringes at your off-hand remark...
Yeah, I'm using the 30-day trial. No help or tutorial files are installed. Is there just a quick way to be able to add more textures to my scene?

you can download them while you sleep, they are broken up into smaller files. You should at the very least get the User Reference.
You could also get friend with broadband to burn it and mail it to you.

you can have unlimited materials in a scene, the material can only edit 24 at a time, if there is a material in the scene that yo dont see in any material slot in the editor, just select a slot and use the eyedropper to select a material in the scene by clicking on the object with the material you want to edit and the material editor will switch out the material, but dont worry the other material is still there just not listed in the editor slots anymore.
If you want a copy of the users Reference ill put it on my website for you to download, at your leisure, it is 30mb.
