I know you guys are much more computer savvy then i am but why do you suppose that I DID SOMETHING WRONG :scared:
How wrong can it be to simply install Generals with no mods, and then it crashed after about 2 days from the time that i brought it.
OK get this:
I brought this PC less than a month ago and Generals and ORB crashed.
STARSHIP TROOPERS would not run at all except for the intro movie, regardless of the XP and NVidia patches.
JETFIGHTER 4,which on the box says Windows XP does not even run at all...then guess what...the hard drive crashed
I called dell which took me through the usual steps, and found that the hard drive had failed the dianostics test, was no good,so they sent me another one.
Guess what, generals crashes on the new current drive also,so does FINALBIG,which crashes at time when i try to delete a file from within the BIG.file.
Dell's support is just GREAT and i never was dissatified with there support.
Now i don't know what specs are within in your machines and i would like [if you don't mind] if you guys can to post the specs of your machines.
If after i reformat this drive and setup a dual boot with XP PRO/98 and reinstall the game,if i get the same crashes,i'm dumping this machine and will try another configuration.
But one thing is certain, and that is that i will never ,ever use windows ME for gaming or serious song writing.
I have seen that OS do somethings that a lot of people thought was impossible.
Case in point:
ME burnt sounds that i created INTO the installation file of one of my music programs...it burnt INTO THE CD itself, without activating the drive or the burning software.
So imagine if you have BATTLEFEILD 1942 on you PC and then you install Genaerals on the same machine.
Now after playing Generals you shut down you PC and the next day you turn it on and take the disk out and install Generals on another machine that never had BATTLEFEILD 1942 on it.
Now when you start to play Generals, you not only hear the Generals sounds but you also hear the sounds from BATTLEFEILD 1942.
Not only that, you then go into the Generals program files and you see the BF'42 sounds in there, and every time you uninstall and delete the folder, and then reinstall Generals, the BF'42 sounds are once again install in there.
They are now part of Generals,as if EA put them in as part of the game's sound effects.
Now if anyone one knows of a virus that can do this, please tell me about it.
