Default Animation problems Major help needed for Link from Zelda mod

hey there
ok this animation wwskin is starting to destroy me so im gonna ask for some much needed help.

right this is how it goes. i have made the model of link. it has been textured. I have made the bones for link. but i made the mistake of using modifier skin to connect the bones to the mesh. so i fixed that and used wwskin. after id made some animations.

but. even after i've used wwskin the mesh does not move with the bones ive attached them too. so i tried somin out. i used one of the models that already had an animation. link standing one, and re-attached the mesh using wwskin. that seemed to work. but when i did the same for the running animation it doesnt work. the animation is wrong in game.??? but the standing one works fine.

so im asking for help. ive uploaded some different files of link in different situations. plus one that has bones yet to be connected to the mesh. and also one of the ini files to replace the ranger model with link for testing.

so please if anyone can help just download the files and see if u can get it fixed. the ideal would be to have link in a standard stance with mesh connected to bones ready for me to animate.

poeple please lend a hand. if u know what your doing then download link and see if u can get him to work. ive still not had any luck. also post if ur gonna give it a try.

post your W3d files. The way you exported teh files may be part of the issue.

The biggest thing that is obviously wrong is the lack of a skelton w3d. I'm wondering if you even HAVE a skeleton w3d file...

Code:
    DefaultConditionState
      Model             = Link
      IdleAnimation     = Link.Link 0 30
      IdleAnimation     = Link_idle1.Link_idle1 0 30
He is not using skeleton files at all in the ini.He is coding things the 'animated heirachal model' way, rather than the 'heirachal model + skeleton' method used with the infantry in generals.

Like I said...

Now I'm still wondering if he has a skeleton file or if he's compleately unaware of how to make W3D bone animations, since I don't feel like explaining the whole thing if he already knows about it and this is just an ini error.

I dont think he understands

Theres not too much to explain really...

1) Export the skeleton objects transforms as a 'skeleton' file

2) Export the model+skeleton objects as 'heirachal model' using the W3d skeleton file created in step 1.

right this is what i've already done. i exported the bones as a skeleton file called runningbones. i've corrected the ini pside with the file name. i've exported the runninf file as a heirachal model connected to the skeleton.

and the result is a completly messed up animation that doesnt even resemble what i made.

i've never messed with the infantry b4 in this only buildings and tanks so please tell me what i'm doing wrong. or even better tell what i'm doing wrong and fix the files at the same time.

much obliged, scythe

3) export animation as 'animation' file.Only export the bone transforms.

If you cant get it from there, well, too bad =P

hey I've got it working now. Oh god what a faf, i have to say this is one of the worst setups ive ever come across for character animations!!!

thanks key0p. although your instructions where some what cryptic they helped alot. I think i may just be inspired to right a tutorial on the subject after my ordeal. help everyone else. so look out for that in the near future. along with link kicking arse!!!

they are not so much 'cryptic' as they are brief.I used the correct terms you would encounter during the process, to save confusion
