I honestly dunno what he means by zero gravity smurf. If he somehow did true zero gravity then any unit would be able to go anywhere and construction of buildings would essentially be impossible. Not to mention the fact that your units would move around constantly because they would be "floating".

As for eating compute cycles because of a cloud layer, an extra 2 poly's from the plane with a regular linear offset texture on it wouldn't cause that much of a difference. And its just my opinion but part of the effect that I go for in my work is the atmosphere, which is why I wanted to figure out a good way to do something along those lines. As for upping the game to 90 fps, I dunno how you can tell the difference. The average person can't tell any difference after between 40-60 fps because the human eye can't react that fast. (learned that in my animation class last semester thank you very much )

As for gideon's level of humility, it doesn't help when your forum is full of people who call you a god when you add in a building that is 2000 polygons.

The problem isn't the polies on the plane, but the fact that its transparent using the alpha channel...which is a big draw on the engine.

AFAIK, ZH doens't even have a "gravity" for most activies, the gravitational force only applies during physics calculations, which, afaik, only applies to moving vehicles, not infantry or buildings

As for subterreanian stuff, its probably just a unit animation that causes it to "go under" whilst a few polys are visible above the ground surface (so you can select it).... it probaby has the "stealth whilst moving" thing applied too.

But what would be cool is a map that hides the main ground layer and everything above it when you click on something, then showing you another ground layer below it with all the subterranian units, now *that* would be cool

Please I hope this is not the next phase in generals modding. Clouds are as annoying as ion storms. Serves no purpose except to interupt my submission of the world!

Well, I think it looks beautiful, as does the rest of the mod. The CGI movie looks cheesy, but other than that, it looks great. I don't see why it recieved so much flak just because it was a bit over-hyped....

Just a "bit" over-hyped? The guy said he was making this as an entirely new game, and is going to sell it to EA when its done...

yeah, I agree with Smurf... I mean jeebus, he was talking about selling it to EA as a new game

and there are so many mods better than it too

as for clouds, I find them irritating... I do like weather effects like rain, wind and even fog... like the ones in Warcraft III
