You guys think thats hard? Try learning Portugese, French, AND Spanish in 2 years *I live in the US by the way, so I know english*. But you do have a point, Chinese is pretty hard to learn. There are many symbols and stuff, but I remember hearing somewhere that even the people on the Chinese forums cant understand him either....so i think he's just a person in the U.S. b/s'ing us *anyone else ever thought that?*, or maybe he really is Chinese, but young, but then again, how could he know how to code his Super Laser Snooterific Tank? Oh well, for now, he can just wonder and enjoy the snoot and all his spamtastic posts. Like this one!

French and Spanish are both romance languages, and portugese is similar to spanish as english is similar to french. You really can't compare learning different languages within one family (indo-european) to that of learning one from a completely different family (like chinese) and vice versa.
I'm English/French Bilingual and will be studying German and Italian starting in September, both should be dead easy. However I've been trying to learn Japanese for over a year now, and I can testify that jumping to a different linguistic family makes things quite a bit more complicated... and heck from what I understand, Japanese is easy compared to chinese. So in the end I'm more than willing to forgive w888's machine translated gibberish. Afterall it's not like we're discussing a topic where we could easily develop a pidgin like 'how do I get to the bathroom' so give the guy a break. Snoot.

he's not Chinese, he's Arabic... this was answered a while ago... just some effort is all I'm asking for... I always liked the football player who went out there and tried his hardest, over the dumbass with a bunch of talent, who didn't even try...
learning languages is harder for some people than it is for others... I speak a bit of Spanish, but I have to mix in a little English every once in a while... I tried learning Japanese a while back, because of my families constant proding to "embrace my culture" or somethin like that... but I'm a busy guy, so I only learned a little... the key is not to think of things as translations... just think of them as an extension to your vocabulary with its own definition and such
