Default Spawning problem

Hi everyone. I'm trying to spawn a helicopter on the back of a vehicle using the crusader/BattleDrone method (Don't ask why). Anyway the defaultconditionstate for the helicopter has an animation loop for the blades just like the comanche. However I've also made an animation of the helicopter starting it's engines and the blades spinning up. Is there anyway I can make

1. A spawn delay for the helicopter to appear of about 2 secs.

And 2. Is there a way to play the animation of the helicopter starting up then linking into the default conditionstate of the blades spinning?

I know that I'll have to use the transition states but which transition can I make that plays on creation then lets the default one take over.

Any help would be really appreciated.

make 2 objects. the 1st is a landing copter. the 2nd is a flying copter. the landing one is spawned firstly with a life limit, and OCL the flying one when dying.

Thanks but I just finished doing just that. I made a copter preparing to take off and it's replaced by a regular copter.
