Default The Units from the Beta! (Alot of pictures, +/- 1mb)

hi there,

like eveyone said there were alot of units in the beta that werent used in the full version. so i though i would look them up and post a screen shot here! :P


Not sure what this is, is just in there..


one of the Old Techbuildings, no idea what is does. Maybe a Free Underground passage like building. ?



This looks like the weapon factory from Red Alert from Yuri..
has some missing textures though..




Again a weapon factory, this one is plainly called weaponfactory2.. could be used for a Naval Yard


a diffrent art for the raptor, looks more gla'ish to me..


and ofcourse the already seen Battle lab for the americans..



looks like a propaganda tower to me, but strangely enough it starts wth AB, (america building...)

its the GLA Powerplant! they actually have 2, one wind and a nuclear power plant.
the model in normal state isnt really complete i guess, so i posted the damaged one too..

The medical Droid! no idea what it does, but it sure look cool as hell!


i think this is an old propaganda center, no skin though, but it does have a point where units can go in or out..



just a resource pile i guess...


the predator, looks like the leopard tank, (ie the crusader..) but has some things diffrent, is American.



the repair droid, the icon is used for lvl 3 replair now..
looks cool



the old scorpion, a bit silly looking!


its called stealthfigher, could be GLA or something else..
dunno.


a tech drop point! cool, guess its the same as the american one, but then tech!



the radio station, Tech, dont what what it was supposed to do.. (DZ?? :P)

well, here you all are, iam not sure if ill release the files though, even though these came from the Fileplanet Test..

And what was the point of posting that lot? Weve all seen that stuff before. If you search the forum youll see that Ravage has already posted most of those pics.

yup, didnt know that it was posted before,
iam only here for like 2 weeks now.

but because everyone wanted the models i thought no one had seen them too :P

ah well, ill try to make a MP Test pack, with all the models in it..

Still good to see them again, that old message is a LONG way down the list.

I remember posting a while ago asking if someone could post the shelved units from the pre-release versions. Someone did reply that they were working on getting Harvard Bonin to give permission to release them (was that you Deezire? I can't remember). Any luck there? (Perhaps someone could start an online petition?).

Don't know about anyone else, but I'm after the mammoth (that one fom the old pre-release screenshots with the american colour scheme), that black plane (I've heard two conflicting stories there. One says GLA stealth fighter, other says Iron Dragon for China, probably drops a bomb like the nuke cannon round), and the hover-capable crusader. I'd especially like the necessary code is released with it to enable it properly, as I have no background in the game engine, little programming talent, and even less patience (most of the time). The GLA airfield is nice, but I think choppers would suit them better than planes (although an old WW2 Mustang with a rocket attack and machine guns would be fun).

That Black Plane was indeed China's Iron Dragon and only existed for an early demo mission.

Now i want alot of stuff from there, hopefully Deezire is making a mod to do what he usually does, unlock old and unused vehicles and stuff

Anyway, alot of stuff bothered me with the current ingame units, like for instance:

Why the feck does the USA have a detention camp, and what the bloody hell does it do ? You dont put people in it, and its only purpose is to reveal all the enemies on the map. What the frick has that got to do with a prison ?

Second, the China Propaganda centre, why is there a garage on the side if it isnt used, at first i thought that it might upgrade your vehicles to vet status, but nope.

Third, if anyone should have a prison camp, it should be the GLA, capture enemy units with the POW truck and detain them in your prison, while theyre in there i guess you could either gain that tech to train them or see other units of there type on the map.

And what the hell happened to the water ? It looks cheap and nasty now, on old pre-beta shots the water looked fecking fantastic, yet they changed it to be really horrible. They original textures for it are still there aswell !!. Weird. Even panzers have better water, and Panzers runs considerably faster on my machine and much larger map and detail, something has gone wrong in the brains of EA most definatly. Oh well, my rant over.

Originally, the amount of the map that got revealed with the 'Intelligence' super weapon (formerly known as CIA Intelligence) was proportionate to the number of POWs you had captured and returned. The USA POW Truck also came from the garage at the side.

The Propaganda Center also spawned a POW Truck from its 'garage'. The number of POWs you captured and returned could be turned to your side through subliminal propaganda over a period of time.

The GLA Prison also spawned a POW Truck but gave the GLA a cash bounty for each POW captured and returned.

Im near enough doing those things in my project with a few extra tweaks, although my slant is that you can use POWs for the sole purpose of building walls for your faction - this way, the walls are a 'later game nice to have only' feature thus avoids the 'early turtling' concern

As for the water - if you dont like it, just change the texture
