Need help with skin editing
I am a newbie to gen editing (normal Gen not ZH) so I would like to ask a question about skin editing. I read the tutorial here and the tutorial for adding an alpha chnnel on GenDev. I tried editing the skin of the GLA hijacker (it's in TGA) and viewed it in W3D viewer. It came out pretty well (nothing great, but I tried), so I tried adding it to the game. I put it into Data/Art/Textures in my Generals folder and I also added Hijacker as the starting unit for GLA, so I dont have to level up to see him. I started the game and started a skirmish with GLA. The INI "mod" worked, but the model didn't have the skin changed. I don't know what might have gone wrong. Can anybody help me? :tard:

Thanks a lot smurfbizkit. I thought there was something wrong with the directory, but couldn't figure it out. I hope I don't make these kinds of mistakes in the future!

Sorry, I'm a little anxious, could you post a picture of your skin?

Im not gonna post the texture, but here is a pic. It's nothing great so far, but I wanna make most of the models so they are very similar to the characters on the Cameo.
For example, the hijacker doesnt have a scarf in the cameo, so I deleted and most likely I'm gonna make the brown shirt he has on too, so that he looks exactly like on the cameo. I had to make the team colors somewhere so I put them on the belt and that also changed the color of the antenna. I don't mind that though.
Please send so feedback!

looks really good to me... are you working on any mods right now, planning on releasing these to the public, or just doing this for fun?

Yes and no!
Me and my friend from my country (I live in USA, but I am originally from Slovakia in Europe) are gonna start a mod, but we wanna learn some modelling and skinning teqniques, so that we could do a good job. What I am planning for now is a small mod where I redo some skins from the game according to the cameos in the game. My friend is learning how to model at the moment, but since the school year is about to start, it will take a while until we actually accomplish something. I already tried playing around with the INI files, but as you know, it will take a while until I get used to them.
Oh yeah, one more question. If I make a just Generals mod (not ZH), will it work on computers that have ZH. I dont personally have ZH, but I wanna buy it soon. I played it before, but I just dont have it yet. But if I release just a skin edit mod, will it work on Gen + ZH? Thanks!
