Default Object sound strings

I'm just looking through TibEd2 atm, and looking at the long list of speech (okay... audioevent) strings

A few in particular interest me...

As players of E2150 will know, units reported back when the enemy was spotted, and again when the enemy was within weapon range

And I'd like to bring this element of self-reporting scouts back into ZH... and I was wondering if VoiceMeetEnemy would allow this

Additionally, does anyone know why TibEd reports the VoiceCreated, VoiceEnter, and VoiceGarrison strings as emtpy, despite US Rangers clearly having sounds for these events?

Also, what is the VoiceFear string for? Is that the one played when the Ranger's health goes below 50%?

I'm also looking for a voice event to be played whenever the unit gets hit anyway

i never tried it before but i think that would work
i don't think the you could make them say something when there in weapons range tho :/

yes that is the voice fear

for that just give the damagefx of the infantry units (asuming you mean the infantry and not vehicles since they allready have it) a sound effect like all other explosion effects have

if you don't know what FX too change then look at damagefx.ini there should be a list with the damage FX for infantry

uhm

this will be a problem later on with tanks and 'mechs... because I want them to have a sound of their armour breaking up when hit, as well as the "I'm hit!" voice simulatenously

plus if its set as an FX sound, doesn't that mean it'll say "I'm hit" like 20 times in 5 seconds when its hit by a stream of missiles and shells?

Welll you can specify multiple sounds to play in the damageFX, so they both play. And to solve the repeating problem, you can not only specify a limit on the damageFX, but you can also (I think) specify some kind of repeat delay on the sound so it only plays every so often. And if that doesn't work then you can cheat: set the limit of the sound to 1 (so it only plays one at any time), and then insert a piece of silence after the actual sound file. Then it will consider the silence as "playing the sound" so it won't play another. Make sure your sound doesn't have "interrupt" for this to work.

Make a unit that is the only one that can say things like "Enemy Spotted" and make only certain units have those kind of voices.

Uhm

In E2150, all units had the ability to report seeing an enemy, they have the appropriate speech files as well, I can't see your suggestion really working unless I gave units an invisible/intargettable drone that reported the enemy
