deezire, immo, other pros help-smart missile not smart at all
I'm trying to make a missile fire several other missiles that actually look for targets as opposed to the various mods that have had cluster bombs dropping dumb bombs, i want a tomahawk that can fire a few other tomahawks that will each look for different targets, can this work,
i've had success with the tomahawk exploding in midair releasing 3 other smaller tomahawks, but they don't target anything, it's as if the game doesn't recognize them. depending on the ai update module tag i use, it will either 1)scoot along the ground or 2) fly around in circles and loops doing nothing else, so i was thinking is it possible to use the template for the raptor strike which has a delivery payload module and instead of the raptor use the tomahawk which would launch other tomahawk, BUT i don't want them to just spit out and hit the ground i want them to recognize enemy vehicles and hit them, is this possible, help please :/

The problem there is that the target isn't passed from the parent missile (which is fired as a weapon therefore it has a target) to the clusters. So you need some kind of way to have the parent first spawn a regular "unit" which then targets the nearest thing and shoots the clusters at it. This way you'd ensure that the clusters actually have a target to follow. The only thing is that I have absolutely NO idea if it'll work, or even how to do it. I'd advise you to try something else first.

thanks immo for the quick reply, so you're saying maybe if it spawned a drone for example then these submunitions could target something, if that doesn't work, do you think it might have something to do with the scripts? i'm telling you it was weird that when the smaller tomahawks had the missile ai tag they couldn't fly, but with the ai update tag they could, but like i said before neither would hit anything, the only enemy who would pay attention were the gla stinger sites

Maybe you must make a new missile and make a animation of it like this one: Tomahawk fire towards target - > near target, missile explodes into submunition (animation) and hits the target. I think this is possible because i asked it in another topic and i get interresting news of it. but its difficult so i didn't tried it because it takes a lot of time to solve it.

thanks bart for the advice actually i searched the forums to get an idea and read your thread, it's funny because i was going to contact you to see if you had ever had any luck since you wanted to do the same thing, maybe we shouldn't give up on it yet and work on it together,
my only problem with your suggestion on the animations is that i've only managed to work on ini coding, i have no experience whatsoever with models, skinning but like i said maybe we can team up and attack the problem together

Well when it was ready you just released it and it went off and looked for an enemy object. When it found one it blew itself and the target up.
