Default Sounds in subfolders

Does anyone know if it's possible whether the game differentiates between any of the folders in Data/Audio when looking for sounds? I'd like to organise all of the sounds into folders, because with the amount of sounds we have now it's a pain to look through them all. Currently all of the sound effects and voices are in Data/Audio/Sounds, and the EVA voices are in Data/Audio/Speech. But some of the EVA sounds are in Sounds instead of Speech because they're in Voice.ini and they're treated as voices. So I'm wondering if I can move the remaining EVA sounds to Speech, and split Sounds into Sounds/Voice/(side) and Sounds/Effects...

Anyone have a conclusive answer to this?

It might have a problem because to my knowledge (as small as it is) it has them in special folders, but then again I know you can pretty much put any of the files almost anywhere, like you can put the bink files (the movies) in other folders and it'll read them.
