Default Announcing 1949: Red War

I think it's the time now to announce you my latest project - 1949: Red War. Focussing on two sides, the Allies (consisting of the USA, England and France) and the Soviet Union, in - of course - an alternative 1949. I'll have to think of a story, but basically the Allies were held up with the attacks on Nazi-Germany and the Soviet-Union managed to take nearly entire Germany before the Second World War ended.

Innovativities:
Style of Building. Instead of building structures, you use an Officer. You can have only one Officer at a time, and they can create construction sites. That construction sie is upgraded to a real building. i.e. You let your Officer build a Construction Site Barracks, and he builds that in a second or two. Than, you can upgrade the Construction site to a real Barracks, but it doesn't need your Officer for that. This way, you can build a lot at a time, but not everywhere at a time, because you only have one Officer.

Resource Gathering. As it looks weird to dump a load of Oil Derricks in a town, you capture monuments. Important squares, City Halls, Train Stations, all the important buildings give you money. Maybe a GLA-style Cash-for-the-kill as well, but I don't like the idea of Defensive buildings gaining money...

The Superweapons and Airplanes will be decided later, if they will be in it. To be honest, I'm not such a fan of fighting from your base, your base should only serve as a place for the production of units.

Note: I'll continue the Allied models when I find good blueprints for them

Your unit list is composed entirely of things we have in Blitz2. :P I know you are saying how your thing is an "alternate" timeline kinda thing...but from what I see it just looks like another WW2 mod...except without the Axis.

If the soviets and the allies did end up going to war, why not call this 1946? I don't see why they would've waited a couple years to fight each other.

Also if this is still 1949...why not give the allies some of the Axis aircraft? The americans in particular managed to accquire a good amount of Axis jet aircraft and the scientists that made them.

How about make it kinda twisted like RA2 I mean just think of it..
A tiger tank that hovers? Some infantry dude with a laptop railgun?
Sharks with laserguns attached to their heads?

Look there's like a million opportunitys here!

,then why not do AN ALTERNATE ADVANCED TIMELINE.

Its 1949 in an advanced earth time line.

Here is an idea that i had for a mod for the SUDDENSTRIKE series but most of those guys are purists and are stuck on keeping all mods in WW2...BORING

During WW2 einstein and other scientists are working and sharing not only atomic technology but also technology that can render ships and armor invisible to enemy units [ PHILADELPHIA EXPERIMENTS ].

While conducting tests there is an explosion [there always is ] and 2 holes are punched into the time and space streams that brings some of these scientists with there 1940's technology back to 1914,at the start of WW1.

One hole is punched into a lab in 1914 philadelphia and the other in punched into 1914 leningrad so that what you have by the time WW2 erupts are armies that have a 1940's look to them but useing weapons from the future...like in the movie Sky Captain and The World of Tommorrow.

You can have captured Axis Mechs in panzer skins with badly worn nazis emblems on them.

Soviet speztnaz troops [ i may have misspelled the actual name] in chrome and red armor.

All planes have propellors [ except for the civilian faction] on them but they have muliple rocket and missile pods.

A GLA type faction [ but its not going to be called the GLA ] like a civilian army to a neutral country that does not want the superpowers fighing on thier soil,that can have scrape upgrades.

This civilian scrape faction can have an airforce that consists of BiPlanes with small multiple jet enginesand bomb racks.

This would really be cool because you can give this army the power of the hijacker.

Any unit captured by this faction takes on the look and style of the faction even with the faction's insignia.

You would still keep all the lasers and supenweapons but you would just house them in buildings that look like the mid 1940's ...give them a very mechanical look.

Well not really waspo, because in RA ,all the units and weapons are from the not to distant future but with my concept what you would have is advanced weaponry built in and around WW2 style machines.

If you have ever seen the sci-fi series SLIDERS,there is an episode where the sliders travel to an alternate earth timeline that has the egyptian empire as the modern day superpower.

Everything looks...well, egyptian,where you have huge pyramids that are office buildings made of steel and glass and Mech units that look like some of the Scarab bettles that they used to worship.

What all a bit of boredom can't do.

Actually this project was never meant seriously. I just got annoyed by how often people just say "cool" when they hear about a mod. As such, I created this project, similar to the Laser Turret that was actually just a sphere and a cylinder. The idea of the mod is to have a high-suckiness level. The unitlist is composed entirely of WW II units (I added the Ammo trucks, but I'm sure they were in service), but without the Nazis. So it would do something that 5 mods are doing already, but without the third side (i.e. it'd always be worse than those mods).

Thing I have to admit though, I've grown to like the ideas of the Construction Site and the way to gather income. The Construction Site building system could very well make it into the SECRET project, if the engine only supports Generals-style building.

So, anyone who commented on the story or unitlist being sucky - you passed. Anyone commenting on the Build/Economy model - you passed as well

Smurf, your first part is exactly why this is a bad idea. Good job. The thing with not having Axis stuff in the Allied army is because I never heard of that happening in real life. By the end of the war, the Americans had teh P-80, which was superior to the Me-262 in much ways.

Adamstrange, you're right. It's not really worth being called an alternative timeline, as every unit featured in WW II. If I were serious about the project, I would have had some weird stuff in it. I always loved Crimson Skies' environment, but didn't have the money to buy the game at the time, and forgot all about it.

BTW, anyone need any of those models? I have no need for them anymore.
