Default Editing question about Textures.big

Okay so I want to change the picture/potraits what have you, of all the generals when are loading the game.

However, I can't find a .big editor that I need. I would also think I would need to extract the DDS files and find a converter.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to change those pictures and where to find the necessary tools?

Sorry if this question has been asked before, first time posting.

Oh, okay. And if they're TGA thats fine, I have Adobe CS, but my question is, how do I open the .big file to access the tga files to begin with?

Use "Links Database" on this site to get on GenDev site and there you can download the Final Big, which is the program you are looking for.
And problem is solved

Thanks a tons Retnuh. But I have one final question if thats okay!

I found how to edit the potraits of the generals, but how do I edit their splash screen?

What I mean is the screen you get when you load skirmish that shows the name of the general, what side they choose, what weapons and special abilities they get...

Any way to edit those?

Thanks!

I donīt know what exacly what you are looking for. :tard:
-If you are looking for connecting pic to generals look into PlayerTemplate.ini.
-If you are looking for text ( specific weapons/abillities of a general) then you have to look into generals.csf for text. It is named GUI:BioFeatures. Exact name is in PlayerTemplate.ini. (You can download CSF editor from GenDev)

If you are looking for something else be more specific.

The splash screen as you call it is actually a bink file.
Download RAD Video Tools at = http://www.radgametools.com/bnkdown.htm
And as for the .dds files go to http://www.tucows.com/preview/194967.html and download infranview, next go to http://www.irfanview.com/ then PlugIns and download iv_formats.zip (this file is needed in order to view the .dds files), save them as .tga files and your golden!

No he's talking about the generals skirmish load page, where it show the portrait of the general and a list of the specialiteis to the right and the map to the right of that.

That has to be in done in the challenger ini. Took me the longest time to get the answer for that one. Open up the challengermode ini file and locate your general or add one if you like MAX is position 11. Than you can find the generals portrait and change it or add it to the new generals. You'd think the player template would do that but it doesn't. Go figure...

Maybe so but it would look a little strange to simply have them look the way he wants in the skirmish but look like the developer's versions in the cahllenge mode.
But why go through all that trouble with messing with the challenge ini file when he can just simply change the mapped images INI file (which he'll have to do anyway)?

Well sure if it's an existing general. But if it's not... challengerini.
