Default Simple Opinion

I am working on grouping the generals into certain classification upon which my modifications will be based. Each team has one general of each class, thus all nine generals are divided in 3 classes; Defensive, Defensive Offensive, Offensive. Example: Superweapon General, Nuke General, Toxin General- Defensive (this is just an example) This is just for fun, so post your hearts out within reason.

I don't think it's practical. Cause at one point you're are offensive and some defensive. Who would want a generals designed to defend. I would assume all factions would have a balance of both.

If the attacker gets the edge than the game is over quickly as he is not afraid of counterattack and vice verse...

It worth mentioning something here. The main powers of each army is summerized in the title of its generals. For example the most significant powers of USA is in its Airforce, Laser and Superweapon. All USA generals must use Air units, laser (Avenger, Paladin/Laser-Crusader) and Particle Cannon.

As a quick piece of advice, edit your main post so that visitors feel free to talk about anything other than defensive/offensive grouping.

Well as for wheither or not it is practical - I'd have to agree with Hostile - in any kind of campaign one must eventually be on the defense and if your army is entirly offense then you might have a little trouble when your offensive units are dead... but I know what you mean in terms of offensive through defensive stages, but all in all it has potential just make sure the generals can have forminable defensive capabilities other wise the player(s) will see either little or no interest in any of the generals except for the offensive-defensive generals that you previously mentioned.
That is page one of my novel... thank you very much hehe j/k

Even if we assume the obvious that there is a comfortable balance, one leaning offensivs and so on. The offensive side would always win cause a good offense is also a good defense.

You would have to balance it by giving the defensive gen good SWs and Powers. That would deter the offensive generals from turteling, than even if two defensive gens battled, than it's just a SW race. Not fun either...

Yeah, I guess it may get impractical at one point or another if I didn't give all generals some defensive and some offensive strategies depending on their genre. I got the idea but looking at the USA generals. The laser general has some specialized defenses and some offensive units, which appeared to me as a both defensive and offensive general. The airforce general has little types of specialized defenses, and a very large specialized attack force. The SW general has specialized defenses and defensive/offensive weapons, and little to no offensive units.

True but take notice that in most people's MODs they are rectifying those things in one way or another... so there's your answer more or less :dead:
