gmax file to 3dmax file or 3dmax file to gmax file

how i open gmax fils in 3dmax ?
how i open 3dmax fils in gmax ?

what i need for that?

What Version u use of 3ds max? erm you can only import *.3ds in gmax
i can open with 3ds max 3 gmax files but you can also look on google search for plugins may you lucky!

from 3DS Max -> gmax, export to .3DS, then import into gmax.

Dunno about gmax -> 3DS Max 6, but if you have max 5 there's a W3D importer.

THE ONLY SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM

From 3D Studio to gmax
export as .3ds .... as posted above.

From Gmax to 3D Studio
Find the .mdl export plugin for gmax
export as .mdl
Find a conversion tool that will convert to 3ds or something

...you have to go via .mdl ...

see the gmax support site, or some quake mod sites. I have never done this myself tho, but seen many use this explanation.

Find on google 3ds max > gmax importer adn you will find it

I have a script tht can let u expoort files so that ANY version of max can read them-works in 3DS Max 6, but not in Gmax (meening tht I can xport frm Max and load in GMax, but no visa versa). If ne1 wants it thn ill e-mail it 2 ya with instrucions

I use 3dmax R6.The W3d import scripts made by Seagle and coolfile have always worked in both gmax and 3dmax.You can find coolfiles script by searching this site.coolfiles script fixes bugs from the seagle script, and allows for the importing of animations.

That is all you need.Export to a w3d from RenX, then import the w3d to 3dsmax with a script.
