Default infantry reskinning

ok i have extracted all the files for colonel burton and the skin, i have changed the skin, and now i want to put the models and skin back in the game, but still having the colonel burton unit with his original skin. i read some where that you had to change the name of the model and re apply the skin to the model in gmax. but how do i re apply it? is that even what i am supposed to do?

You can either do it through gmax or through hex-editing the w3d model file.Hex editing is definately the easier way to go, although if you must change the character length of names, then it has to be done through gmax.

The model needs a new W3d name, and it needs to reference the correct texture.Im not sure if you can just rename the w3d model file normally(ie right click-->rename), but its texutre is definately referenced internally.

Do you want to create a new unit that looks like Col. Burton with a new skin, or is this just a new skin for Col. Burton?

I can't help you with the first part, but if it's just the second part:

The model can remain untouched, just make sure you're skin is saved in the same format at the original and that it also has the same name as the original and then place it in the Art/Textures folder of your main Generals directory.
