Default Coding

Is there anyone here who actually knows what all that coding means/stands for?

And if so, how did you go about finding out?

Nobody knows all the coding (except maybe Deezire )
Just experiment, make some crazy units, so on...
Most of the coding lines are pretty obvious, and other times EA tels you what it means (atleast they did 1 thing right)

On another note, I understand that you are new to this modding thing, and that you want to find out what everything means. You are making a lot of topics and asking questions that have been answered before. Everybody does this, but you know, use the tutorials, SEARCH function and so on...

Modding can be hard and frusturating at the start (I actually quit modding when I first tried to learn it 2 years ago, but then came back).

Like Mishkin says, check the tutorials, forums, browse through the INI files. You get a few ideas for mini mods just doin that.

Heres a hint and this is why most people give up straight away, don't "jump in at the deep end", start off small and work your way up. Otherwise you just get really frustrated when nothing works.

Making copies of vehicles coding such as the quad cannon and modding it so it would build at fully upgraded level with laser cannons is where I started. Love my lasers

On the countrary I suggest you jump at the deep end. Why? Exactly due the reason that he suggested you not do that! Believe in what I said and you'll see.

By the way, I'm a programmer, so coding is not so much without sense for me. Is anybody else have programming experience?

Well that's exactly what I did. I'm actually surprised at how much I've gotten to work. Right now I'm facing a random cameo button for a new vehicle I made. I have entries in HandCreatedMappedImages and TextureSize_512 but I still get a different, and never the correct, image each time I start the game.... :tard:

I'd suggest just using one of the two directories, and posting your code. Also, have you considered GenCameoMapper? It is very useful (I'm a bit biased, as I wrote it, but....). You can find it at GenDev

Nox911..the best teacher is the game itself, try to extract all inis within the ini.big,& try to understand there connection with the original units
& extract those W3Ds& use Renx to look at the models, from those completed units you can learn a lot

Although, a little help from outskirts may be useful. Read INI Research thread often.
