Problem Saving as .dds
I can't save a .tga image as .dds. I have the plug-in and all that. No matter what I do, the SAVE button is greyed out. I followed Deezire's tutorial, but that didn't help. I set every option like he did.
I'm trying to convert a background image for the generals challenge (the generals challenge selection map).
I also get this error (?) near the SAVE button.
"DXT is supported for power 2 only"
I think that's the problem. How can I fix it?

It means either your image height or width is not a power of two pixels ie: 2,4,8,16,32,64,128 etc...

sadly, no.
It's best to keep DDS textures square, and an even ammount of pixels, like 256x256 or 512x512

Well the thing with DDS is that it has mipmaps. And when you save mipmaps, it sizes the pic down by powers of two. So if the original pic isn't a power of two in size it can't do that. But if your texture isn't used for an object texture, but for something GUI-related (for example) then you don't need mipmaps, so you can do with TGA.

huh? what are you saying? Are you saying that DDS with DXT/3 is a higher quality image format than .tga? or that it is the best quality DDS setting?
And what do you mean you "can save DDS files in all formats just make an alpha channel"? Are you saying that by adding an alpha channel you do not need to make the texture dimensions powers of two?
