Default Can 3d Max be used to make Generals Maps?

Hi Guys, Im pretty new to Generals Editing.
Coming from "Codename: Eagle" (www.cebf.ws) where we are
making maps completely inside 3d max.

I found the world builder of generals to be the most useless
and slowest tool available, so i am asking if its somehow
possible to edit the basic terrain of a map in 3d max...

I allready tried to make my terrains in max and create
a heightmap to use with the CkMpDEM converter. Unfortunately
Generals World Builder messes the scale...

So, anyone knows?

Thanks man.
My Problem is, you can generate heightmaps in terragen and use them in generals, But, you still have to place all objects.
The things, once i imported my map, and got the scale right (would be say 300x300) it is just getting too slow.
The WorldBuilder is an utter piece of crap, sorry.

If there's no way to optimize WorldBuilder, I'm really fucked. My PC is just not beefed enough i guess. Oh yeah. THey should really find another way to create screnarios.

Anyways, I posted some screenies. If anyonce cares, you can tell me 3what you think...

:tard: I want a REAL mapmaker!

Thanks for the tip man.
Another thing that bothers me though, is another scale, you see the hills on the maps should actually be mountains and plateaus.

WorldBuilder somehow flattens all this...

I think it has to do with the "step" setting.
A)
Could be that the map only works with 10 units at a time, cutting off all other dimensioning.

B)
Keep in mind that the maps height is limited (have a look at what max height is on the height brush tool). If your initial heights where much higher, it could be that all height dimensions get resampled, hence the blocky appearance...

note
I don't understand what you find so difficult about making landscapes with world builder.. it's so easy.. :tard:

I know its easy, if you see my screenies, you see that
i actually allready got into it.
I also tuned it up by disabling "Macro Texture"-Dsiplay, its much faster now.

World builder just doesnt give me the freedom i am used to when i made maps in 3d max for "Codename: Eagle".

To make it clear, heer is my process of mapmaking...:

The Map in 3D Max

The Render

The Generated Heightmap

And what World Builder makes of it...

As you can see, world builder gets the contures right, I think its the best what you can get out of it. I must stress i dont think WB is complicated
in any way. Its really easy, and it'll do for my Generals TC, im just dissapointed you can't make really cool maps.
The maps you see above ports 1:1 into Codename: Eagle, although I understand that theres a difference in RTS and FPS maps.
Yet in "Z: Steel Soldiers" you had better mountains.

Thanks for your help man!
