Default W3D: need some details for BFME

This is slightly off-topic as it concers BFME and W3D.
I have reverse-engineerd the asset.dat format of BFME, however there are lots of strings there related to the W3D file format, but I have no idea how all that works. Can someone who knows a lot about W3D perhaps look at it and explain to me how it works?
