Default lets make a petition asking EA to do a few things...

Things that we (as in people who aggree with what I write below & who upport the petition idea) want EA to do:
1.release all the old art for generals, (both art from the beta and art pre-dating the beta), for example, it would be good to get the textures for the Mammoth Tank and the rest of the textures for the GLA Wind Power, neither of which are in the beta. There is obviously more stuff as well (for example, were daytime versions of the powerplant seen as mighttime images in the beta, the thing with the 2 funnels, created?) Basicly, the idea is that either they would make a CD and fill it with all the art assets or else they would make a download available. This would be easy for EA to do since the art already exists, all they have to do is make it available.

2.release more information about the future plans for Generals modding. For example, new features being planned for addition to WorldBuilding. Or plans for a w3d editor and/or gmax gamepack. Or whatever. Basicly more information to keep the fans up-to-date with their longer-term plans, whatever they may be.

3.release more technical information on Generals and its engine. For example, release information on the *.w3d files in Generals.

4.put back code that worked but was removed from the engine (Radar Jam comes to mind, there are others).

and 5.listen more to the fans regarding ballance/bugs. For example, the mig problems still arent fixed (despite how many people post on the boards about it)

Comments? (dont say "this is stupid" or "why should EA do this" or "this wont work so why bother". Only give constructive & usefull comments)

Default read the official generals boards...

Many people are saying that the mig has problems, especially when it gets the Black Napalm upgrade.

Not a litteral problem, just wanting hte MiG to be nerfed as it is the most powerful aircraft with Black Napalm for a very low cost. The Chinese airforce with their one plane is better than all of the USA airforce, in terms of firepower and durability.

Westwood giving away details about the w3d format?

You're dreaming.

Code that was removed from the engine was removed for a purpose. It would be pointless to patch a game just to include features that only SOME modders can/will use anyway.

1.the w3d format as it applies to renegade is 99% documented and I know just about everything there is to know about the format.
and 2.the code in question (Radar Jamming logic in particular) was (acording to all the info I have seen) removed because EAP werent using it, it worked just fine AFAIK. Mabie they removed it because they intend to use it in an addon pack or something.

Ive asked about the Tech Radio Station and after mt memory got jogged I now know why it was scrapped.

The Radio Jam actually prevented enemy Generals from ordering their units for a specific period of time when it was fired. It stinks, because thats a massive disadvantage to have since its the same as locking keyboard input for a player.

The Radar Jam was ditched real early - that was originally an upgrade for the GLA Radar Van.

Do we need a whole pertition just for some more Generals modding info? That seems a bit lame. Just wait a while, the clearly have plans to help modders, it's just a matter of time.
