Everything is better. Most importantly new, better features, new units, some sweet particle effects, and stability, improved perormance. If you can afford it, I suggest you get ZH. Not as good as Yuri's Revenge, but it gets second place in C&C expansion pack awards. (Mine awards atleast)

I wouldn't call ZH an expansion pack... in the "technical" sense
Its an entirely different game, only sharing common assets with Generals
Generals, Zero Hour, Red Alert 2, Red Alert 3, and Yuris Revenge all rank at the bottom of my "Best C&C games" list
Why? Because they're not official C&C games, period. End of story

uhm... red alert 2? how is it not? same with yuris revenge...
tib dawn and red alert were the two bases
then tib sun/firestorm and ra2/yuris revenge
those were the TRUE command and conquers not to mention ra expansion packs

I'm getting really sick of people saying that Generals and ZH are not Command & Conquer. Don't get me wrong, I also feel that EA took advantage of the whole middle-eastern war thing, but it's still COMMAND & CONQUER!
And considering RA2 and the future RA3 not C&C is idiotic, so then by what you're telling me you're basically saying that no "true" C&C games have come out in the last 5 years. The only way of satisfying you people is with Tiberian Twilight (that would satisfy me too ).

No....
As far as I'm concerned, a C&C game is a game that follows, extends, or gives more detail into the "C&C Canon"
The tome is the C&C storyline and universe
Any game that isn't part of the universe, I cannot call "C&C"
So there you go

If Gen were a true C&C, it would feature:
1. A construction yard.
2. Patches of money, rather than all in one place.
3. Frank Klepacki's music (it's not the same without him).
4. A decent story.

But the gameplay is old and boring. It's like all classics; they were of the their time. And now its time to move on. Gen is a lot better than RA in terms of gameplay, graphics etc blah.

I prefer Generals to the other C&C titles. It's gameplay mechanics have much more depth, nothing new compared to other RTS games released at the same time, but still a lot better than th other C&C games. Zero Hour, in my opinion, is one of the best expansion packs I've ever played. If they can manage to merge the gameplay mechanics of Generals with the style/story of the Red Alert universe then I think Red Alert 3 will easily be the best C&C game ever.
