Default Polycount on buildings

I have a building around 2,200 polys ... I guess that is ok (barracks) ... is it too much?

EDIT:
by the way, are there any things I should tink of when modelling buildings for general?

i would personaly say yes its too high i reckon the same could be done with less. but without actualy seeing the model i couldn't make a real judgement.

I think to make a habbit of for anything on the ground, Building or tanks and suck.
Always delete the polies that face downward, or are utherwise not seen ingame. so any faces on the bottom of your building can be deleted, to reduce polycount cus they won't be seen anyways.

it's not that high over if you ask me... I'd have to see the building to make a real decision though...

the question needs rewording "is it too much?" - Is it too much for what?.Its definately not too high for the game to render.

You would get a much better(and faster) answer, but putting you model in game and assessing it yourself.

I know. I don't think it is that high either really.

But havving re-thinking my model I can change some of it to more simpler stuff, and no one will ever notice the difference.

...it was just me going too detailed on some "large" windows on a building... 40 polys, pr window .... by going more simpler I will have .... 16 I guess ...

When I get back from my holliday, I will update my web with pic's and stuff ... so you'll have to wait a bit. Maybe I will make some small change towards php too on the page, so ...

You should try it ingame and see if it lags too much for it's usage. If it's going to be used a lot then it shouldn't have as many polys, but if there will only be a couple in the map at a time there should be no problem.

a bit higher poly count, if this building can only build one, then it's ok. otherwise,i suggest you cut off some, it may slow down the game speed.

once again, this isnt 2002, its 2005, pcs are way better, but 2,200 is too much for a barracks, i would go with a max of 1500

yes this is 2005 not 2002. pc's are way better. the engine thats utylising the faster pc's though isn't. thats a big factor. so raise that limit to what u think your pc can handle. then throw that out the window because it bad practise and companies would laugh at u for thinking u can make the game for just the high ender user.
