Default looking for 3dsMax R* to W3D exporter

Hi

am a noob in modding cnc generals, but I would like to give it a try. So am using 3dsMax and am wondering wheater there is a exporter fom 3dsMax to W3D?

Loads of people have asked for this, but there isn't one-There is a W3D IMPORTER for max, and GMAX can export W3Ds with the RenX plugin (the max importer works for Gmax as well). I suggest you get Gmax, as its free, so you have nothing to lose

And RenX can import 3Ds. You'd have to import first and then export, but it's the only way.

RenX can only import 3ds with a plugin, it doesn't come as standard (or it didn't with mine anyway)

I had a script, cant remember where i got it from, cant find it again, it was called "W3D.ms" and it was for renx but it worked for 3dsmax too, imports w3d into max.

I wish I could find that again.

the thing is you guys , 3ds can export w3d , its in the main export options page (and you dont need a plugin), lol, however , before you get all ahead of yourselves , it can not export the format properly that C&C Generals wants , so there for , you HAVE TO USE gmax with RenX,

The reason for this I beleive is that 3ds max supports textures and materials way ahead of the allowance of generals , and there for i beleive that RenX has made the override MEditor that only allows in the type of , and amount of colors and textures allowed in game. Unfortunately for us 3DS M owners, there is NO renx for 3ds max. For one , you have something like 32 million colors in 3ds environment , in renx , you have 256 color paletes ( so far as i can tell - i could be totally wrong here )

Anyways , 3ds is superior to all , but , IT CAN NOT BE USED for anything more than a mesh builder when it comes to generals models , as far as textures and materials , use Ren X , it seems to be only way (therefor , use GMax)

Besides , on a final note , all those of you like I that have 3ds R(i got version 7) , wont have a prob with GMax , it s weak in comparison to 3DS , so learning it is nothing , tis the same damn thing , with LESS options, :P. Until next time. Later
