Default Editing existing skins

Hi,
I was wondering if someone could help me with my problem, i have recently begun editing Zero Hour and have made many Ini changes and just started editing the skins but i can seem to get them to appear in game so i was wondering if someone could tell me where i am going wrong.

Okay, i start off by extracting the textureszh files out of the zero hour directory, opening up an existing skin, e.g zhca_airrangera2 (not sure about spelling) and going over the skin with camouflage in photoshop, then i save my new skin and extract it into zero hour/ art / textures and i save it with exactly the same name as the original as that is meant to overwrite any big file i think, then i fire up the game begin to play and i see no difference, so can anyone help me?

you should extrack the original file into that folder firstly and then edit it.

no, you don't need to edit the w3d files. make sure the texture files are saved as tga or dds format. and you don't need to put it back into the big file.

ah, i have it working now, thanks for the info.
its strange though as when i put in the the textures folder with the filename it had when i extracted it it didnt work, but when i just name it zhca_airranger instead of zhca_ariranger_s it worked.

Ah, I see your problem, and why it is now working. The file zhca_ariranger_s is for a different model or is unused. The _s suffix usually meens for the snow conditionstate, but I don't think the Ranger has one (must stand for something else). Anyway, as you have renamed it zhca_ariranger, the game now reeds it in place of the proper skin file.
