Default The mysterious shadow

Would anybody know what is that wierd shadow distortion happening to my model(see pic for further explanation).

Since I lost my webhost for the time being I have to host my pic at sleipnir's stuff:

go back into gmax and look for any overlaping faces, or edges that connect more than 2 faces and the rest of what the others in that linked post can all casue Shadow Leaks. try looking at your model in WireFrame view while also in Face Subobject edit mode. When looking at your model all the faces that should be facing away from you you whould not see nore should you see the edges that connect those faces. So the opposite side of the model should appear to dissapear, if it doesn't then you eithere have broken vertices, overlapping faces.

another way to find some causes of shadow leaks is while in Edges subobject edit mode click on the "Select All Open Edges" Button. Usually open edges that are inside of the Top-Down Silhouette of a model will cause shadow leaks.
