Generals / Zero Hour for MAC
Hey guys, I've finally done the right thing: ditched Windows and got a Mac.
BUT, does anyone know if modding it is the same doing as the Windows version?

I'm sure I'm not the only person in the world who considers my switch the right thing. But that's not the point of this thread :P

Presumably it will be the same, because I assume the inis will not change - rather, the game.dat and other such files will have changed to accommodate.

You poor, poor man... you have gone over to the dark side... more like the white side lol
Anyways, everything SHOULD be the same except the files needed to initiate the launch of the game. Tell us if you see anything different.

I'd be interested in this - if you crack the game file formats, it would be interesting to see if the MAC version can be modded in the same way as the Win version. Does it use BIG files or some other format?

I'll look into it and report back... May take me a few weeks - I have no idea how to use Macs yet :/

Update on the Generals for Macs thing...
It's exactly the same as Mishkin thought. There's a bunch of BIG files which, when I copied them to my Windows machine, can be opened with FinalBig and the INIs extracted.
BUT, I wouldn't recommend playing the Mac version as Macs generally come with wide screen displays and the only supported resolutions of the game are 800x600 and 1024x768. Needless to say, everything looks very stretched.

Well in that case, modding would be possible, but someone would have to make a Mac .BIG extractor to make it viable
