Destroyable armor

I had an Idea the other day. I think destroyable armor could be done. Make an OCL, like the Gattling Cannon for the Overlord, Allow it to take damage, and make it an plate outside the tank, say in front. Here is the cool part, make it act like a structure so missiles and Shells colide with it. Is this possilbe. Looks pretty sound in the coding. And after you lose it, you could re-upgrade and buy some more.

The problem is that the overlord upgrade is purchased and put INTO the parent object. If you check the OCL.ini you'll see the line "ContainInsideSourceObject = Yes". If you put "No" in there, I think the new overlord object would float in midair and not follow the parent object movements.

Even Though it's Considered to be inside, since it's actually outside, collides with projectiles, and Takes Damage, shouln't it work?

Well try it, but if the object is considered "inside" by the game's logic I do doubt that a projectile would collide with an addon armor. But please prove me wrong

That's Why It's Considered a Structure, so Projectiles hit it.

io may have the wrong end of the stick here, but if you wanted to make tanks fall apart when they get ahit couldnt you just make new models with bits missing then add a conditionstate with that model and say when it changes to that condition it creates a piece of armour (OCL-wise) ??

can you set a trigger when it gets damaged to a certain point? If so then set the "armour" aas a different set at this point, hide the model part and enable an upgrade.

If the upgrade is taken then unhide the object and upgrade the armourset again.

well it already has damaged and really damaged, im nto sure where they relate to. But i think it may be in game data or armour ini's that decide the percentage to go to a new conditionstate... then you just create a new model called blehvehicle_J and take a part of the body off and say when it goes to that condition state it creates a square piece of armour that drops on the floor from an OCL??

you dont even need a new model

hidesubobject should be ok if the "armour" is a named piece of the original model. The same way a cargo truck works after it picks up/drops off its cargo.

well yes, but then the model is just named "chassis" and"turret" so you can't hide bits of it unless you edit it and detach bits.
