Default shields and transforming units

i am thinking about makeing a mod for generals,

would it be possable to make a sort of shield that would engulf a larg area and protect units and buildings from attack?

how about makeing units that will be able transform into different shapes and movement patterens like a jet into a robot

couldent you just do a upgrade that changes the units locomoter and weapon?

that would be all you need!
the animation of how the unit becomes after a upgrade is the same a the Hover Crusader, just check DZ tutorial on that..

as far as yo uwant a shield, i have no idea if its possible..

actually im thinking of makeing a macross mod which was the first part of robotech, its kinda like transformers in a way

im thinking of a unit command like [transform to mode A] and it would change right away, then have more transform modes that arnt grayed out after clicking one

making a transforming model should not be that hard. You will need to make the model itself, then bone it through the transform points. Take a look at Proclone's guide to rigging the Titan model he made.

Then just animate it in Gmax, export the animations, skl, and model.

Look at the old crusader for a guide on how to slap the animation file into the ini.


For Shields, you could try the Chinese prop. tower with an armor bonus to everything within radius. you should be able to set it to affect all units and buildings.

im looking for something more like in starwars: galatic battlegrounds where the shield generator actualy made a field(just a yellow outline around its area) im looking for something like a blue sphere like outline vary thin so if your camra passes through you wont see the blue tent on everything

Perhaps you can use the EMPSphere for that. Seeing as it expands upon creation, you could use that animation once you build a shield generator.

Seeing as the EMPSphere (or EMPSpheriod or whatever it's actually called) also vanishes not long after that, you could try and extend it's lifetime or something like that. I think you could be able to set it to 0 to make it last forever (should be a small step from then to make it vanish again once the source is destroyed or something).

I guess there should also be a way to define immortality for a small period (or you could just increase the armor rating to an incredible level that is close to immortality or whatnot). However, seeing as I have no real experience in editing the thing, I can only hand you the idea's...

but do you want it like in battleground that they get a second health bar?

thats how i see shields, as in Starcraft and in Galactic battle ground..

i dont think its possible doing it the Second health bar way..

but increasing armor might be doable.

Here's an idea, make an invisible vehicle for the infantry to get into, have the visible emp pulse animation active on the vehicle.

Then you can have an infantry with "shields" that have hit points in game.

you might have to make the vehicle model equal to the infantry model to make it show up in game.

Hope that makes sense.
