Ok...here is my problem...i took this skin, named it the same name of the ranger's skin, and put it in my Art/Textures. But when i look at it on the game, the WHOLE UNIT has a shade of the color of what faction you are...Can someone help or at least enlighten me?
As I recall, the infantry in Generals use a skin with the prefix "zhca_". This tells the game to use the Alpha Channel to figure out what part of the unit to remap. I would think that because you have modified the image, the Alpha Channel has been deleted, and the game believes that no Alpha Channel means all areas should be remappable.
Renaming your new skin would just cause the game to ignore it altogether. When you open the original Ranger skin file (or that of any of the infantry), there should be some transparent area(s) where the faction color is suppposed to go. If the software you used to edit the skin didn't support this transparency/alpha channel then that might be your problem.
Paint doesn't support TGA files or DDS files, and you need TGA to make skins. Generals doesn't accept BMP JPG or GIF (the only formats Paint can work with AFAIK). So I'd get a better editor if I were you...
