Default Custom Particle System Images

Ok if you don't understand what I'm talking about, Its the image file you specify particle systems for smoke/explosion/etc.

Changing them is quite cool if you can get them to look good. I'll post my 2 that I've made (well taken from google images [I think or some other location] and edited to work in generals).

First one will be Explosion.dds. Looks best when it is additive and has some dark/smoke particle behind it. Please note its not 100% ideal for "Glow" Effects such as the mushroom head of a nuke. It looks really good at small effects (like rocketBuggyMissileDetonation).

Second one is SmokePuff.dds. Looks somewhat like SmokePuf07.dds. Really pretty bad in very large effects (eg structureTransitionMediumSmoke). Looks better when in groups to make it harder to identify where one ends and one begins.


And now Screenshots... For a side note, I have AA x4 and AF x4 (if you don't know what they are, it basically makes 3d applications/games look sharper and less jaggedness).

The particle effects changed were:
- the tomahawkMissileExhaust (higher alpha)
- carpetBombs' Effects which look like the old way, sortof what Deezire did in Progen
- MissileExhaust which was copied from the TowMissileExhaust which is the ExCloud02.dds effect for missile trails
- TankFire instances replaced with TankSmoke (in FXList.ini)

Finally Please note that its not ideal to just replace all of the effects with these images. I just did because I'm lazy and I want to see how it is in different effects.

Whoops not the last thing (Sorry! :P). I don't have much time to play around and test stuff (Schoolwork). Therefore I only played 3 games. I actually had 5 games, but I tend to forget to take screenshots and focus on playing the game and, ofcourse, looking and the new effects .

Feel free to say whatever....
Here are the dds files. They are at 256x256 resolution. You can lower them for optimizations or edit them how you feel. Credits would be nice, but you don't have to. Just don't credit it as your own.

Also feel free to post your own . (A few screens would be nice too)

are all these possible to make using GIMP also?, cause i dont have paint shop, or photoshop, all i have is gimp and paint...
