Default Destructive Debris

Hi, Is there a way for me to make debris do damage if it hits something?

Look up the aircraft crashing bits of the ini - they can be set to do damage easily. Simply apply that to your debris objects, and you should have it all working fine

I believe it SHOULD be possible, all that's required is to create a death OCL that fires debris objects in random directions then for the debris objects to 'die' with a weapon death.

The tricky area I would guess to be is to get the debris to 'die' on hit rather then in a fixed period of a time, this may be fixed by treating the debris as projectiles but Im not sure.

I don't think it's possible, as debris spawned from an OCL are just models with speed settings. They don't have any physical properties.

Like what Ambershee said, you just need to make the debris object fire some weapon when they die.

The object is in System.ini -> GenericDebris

Bah, give them physical properties man! I don't have generals installed at present, so I couldn't refer to an exact file. Anyway, a crashing aircraft hulk is an example of a debris object with the properties you're describing. Normally debris has something in it's ini entry that kills it off after a period of time - add a death weapon to it and it should be fine.

I'd take your word for that !

So i should add a lifetime update, and a weaponset to this:

Object GenericDebris

; *** ART Parameters ***
Draw = W3DDebrisDraw ModuleTag_01
;nothing
End

; ***DESIGN parameters ***
EditorSorting = SYSTEM

; *** AUDIO Parameters ***
SoundDie = NoSound

; *** ENGINEERING Parameters ***
KindOf = UNATTACKABLE

Behavior = PhysicsBehavior ModuleTag_03
AllowBouncing = Yes
KillWhenRestingOnGround = Yes
End

Behavior = SlowDeathBehavior ModuleTag_04
SinkDelay = 5000
SinkRate = 0.003 ; in Dist/Sec
DestructionDelay = 2000
End

End

I imagine that KillWhenRestingOnGround = Yes in the PhysicsBehavior module already takes care of 'killing' the object, so all you would need to do is add is a FireWeaponWhenDeadBehavior module.
