problems with the textures. HELP ME!!!!

hi all i got a problem with those images. the mainmenurulerinterface.
im making a new 1 with a new color in adobe photoshop 7
but i dont know how to make the images transperancy. how do i do this... ? when i yust add a alpha layer and save the stuff as a tga file
the photoshop cant save the alpha channels and layers what do i do wrong i have try it a couple of times and always ends in failure please help me i whant to make new menu's perhaps deezire the god of modding him zelf would help me out ?

1 - Did you actually do something on the alpha channel? (not layer... channel. Go into the channels tab next to the layers tab.)
Black = Transparent
White = Opaque
Everything in between = Translucent

2 - Did you make sure save alpha channels was checked when saving

3 - Did you save it also as 32-bit (I'm not sure about this one)

4 - Try saving as dds (see here for plugin)
